Privacy policy
This policy covers hearinggearguide.com. The short version: we collect no health information, we ask for nothing beyond an email address if you choose to give one, and the analytics we run are aggregate.
What we deliberately do not collect
No health or hearing information of any kind. Nothing on this site asks for a diagnosis, a medical history, or anything about your hearing. The tools on this site run entirely in your browser: if you type a threshold from an audiogram into one, that number is never transmitted anywhere, is not stored, and is gone when you close the tab. We never see it.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which links are followed. It sets cookies and records aggregate information such as page paths, approximate location by region, device type and referring site. We also record when an outbound product link is clicked, along with which product and which page, so we can tell which pages are useful.
We do not attempt to identify individual visitors and we do not combine analytics with any other data. You can prevent this collection with a browser extension or by blocking the domain, and the site works normally without it.
Email, if you give us one
The shopping list form uses Google Forms, which stores the email address you enter and the page you submitted it from in a spreadsheet we control. The contact and partner forms use FormSubmit, which forwards your message to our email address. Both are third parties with their own privacy policies.
We use an address only to send what you asked for and, occasionally, related updates about this site. We do not sell or rent email addresses to anybody, ever. To have yours removed, contact us and we will delete it.
Amazon
Product links go to Amazon and carry an affiliate tracking tag. Following one means Amazon receives a referral identifier and applies its own cookies and privacy policy. We receive only aggregate reporting from Amazon: numbers of clicks, items ordered and commissions. We never learn who you are or what you bought. See our affiliate disclosure.
Hosting and other third parties
The site is served as static files through a content delivery network, whose servers log standard request information including IP addresses for security and abuse prevention. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts and product images from Amazon's image servers, both of which see a request from your browser.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. Note separately that over the counter hearing aids are never appropriate for anyone under 18: that is a regulatory fact covered in our disclaimer rather than a privacy matter.
Your choices
You can block cookies and scripts in your browser, ask us to delete an email address you have given us, and read the site without providing anything at all. If you are covered by GDPR, UK GDPR or a United States state privacy law, you may request access to or deletion of anything we hold, which in practice is an email address or nothing. Contact us and we will act on it.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the bottom of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept it.
